MoodyScope is a mood and wellness journal for iPhone. This policy explains what the new SwiftUI version collects, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
Who operates MoodyScope
MoodyScope is operated by Liam Sawyer / Sawyer Original. Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@moodyscope.com. Product support is available at support@moodyscope.com.
Information you provide
- Account information, such as your email address, display name, and account identifier.
- Mood entries, including the date, time, mood selection, optional note, and activity tag.
- Answers you save to reflection prompts.
- A profile photo, if you choose to add one.
- Messages you send when contacting support.
You can sign in using email and password, Sign in with Apple, or Google Sign-In. Apple or Google may provide an account identifier, email address, and name according to the choices you make with that provider.
Apple Health and wellness information
With your permission, MoodyScope reads step count, heart-rate information, and date of birth from Apple Health to calculate and explain a daily Wellness Score. MoodyScope does not write data to Apple Health.
- Raw HealthKit readings and your date of birth stay on your device.
- Health information is not used for advertising, tracking, or sale.
- If you enable Wellness Score cloud sync, only the calculated daily score and basic calculation metadata are stored with your account.
- You can use the mood journal without granting Apple Health access.
Apple Health permissions are controlled in iOS Settings. A Wellness Score is for personal reflection only and is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Information stored for app functionality
When you use a MoodyScope account, the service may store:
- Your profile and authentication information.
- Mood history, prompt responses, and earned badges.
- App preferences such as appearance, accent color, reminder time, and whether wellness sync is enabled.
- Your optional profile photo in private cloud storage.
- Calculated Wellness Scores when you explicitly enable their cloud sync.
This information is used to provide your account, sync your journal across supported devices, restore your preferences, secure the service, and respond to support requests.
Photos, notifications, and device permissions
MoodyScope uses Apple's system photo picker when you choose a profile photo, so the app receives only the image you select. Notification permission is used only for reminders you enable. You can change photo, notification, and Health permissions in iOS Settings.
Service providers
MoodyScope uses service providers to operate the app, including Supabase for authentication, database, and private file storage; Apple and Google for optional sign-in; email infrastructure for account and security messages; and Vercel for this website. These providers process information only as needed to deliver their services and under their own applicable terms and privacy commitments.
What MoodyScope does not do
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not use your journal or Health information for third-party advertising.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not upload raw step, heart-rate, or date-of-birth HealthKit data.
Retention and deletion
Account information remains available while your account is active so your history can sync. You can delete your account from the app's settings. Account deletion removes the associated journal data and profile photo from active MoodyScope systems, subject to any limited retention required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or backups. Information stored only on your device can be removed by deleting it in the app or deleting the app.
Security
MoodyScope uses authentication, encrypted network connections, access controls, and row-level database policies designed to keep each account's information separate. No method of electronic storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure.
Children
MoodyScope is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
Your choices and questions
You may update your profile, disable wellness sync, revoke device permissions, or delete your account through the app. For access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests, email privacy@moodyscope.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as MoodyScope changes. The current version and its updated date will always be posted at moodyscope.com/privacy.
